Walking/Outdoor

Bassenthwaite is just off the Cumbrian Way so there are local walks for all levels with varying difficulty and distances. A short car journey will take you to a network of tried and tested walks with stunning scenery of local lakes and fells.  Please contact us if you wish to have further details but we have provided  a link to a walking website that you may find interesting.

On the Water

As we are in the heart of the Lakes there are opportunities for activities on the water.  We have provided a taste of whats available via the links below.

Bassenthwaite Lake Station

has the Art Deco film set train from

Murder on The Orient Express

(with Jonny Depp 2017).

Here you can have Breakfast,

Lunch or Afternoon Teas.

However you will need to book

ahead as it is very popular.

Other Indoor Activities

Cockermouth a few minutes to the East of Bassenthwaite is the birthplace of William Wordsworth. The Mire House is opposite Dodds Wood and the Osprey VIew Point so you can do both with one trip.

For those that like a tipple or are interested in the process there is  the Lakes Distillery close by.

Other Activities

There are plenty of other activities on offer and here are some of them.
